03 September 2015 / Categories: News The Local Healthy Options Award Officers have been trained in nutrition and can provide businesses with free advice and suggest how simple changes to their menus and food preparation practices can provide healthy and appealing dishes. Since the launch of the Scheme in January 2015, a total of 14 businesses have received the award, of which 10 have achieved the prestigious gold award. Businesses attended a successful award ceremony allowing engagement between businesses, officers, councillors and local health professionals, including the Director of Public Health for Cumbria. The award supports local businesses and the economy by encouraging the use of local produce and supplies.
