The short definition of a health walk is "a purposeful, brisk walk done on a regular basis". It can include any walk which is specifically designed and carried out for the purpose of improving your health. Our Walking Programmes take place on various routes including parkland and woodland across Carlisle’s urban and rural district. Take the first steps to a healthier lifestyle with this programme of enjoyable walks. Fit for Life Exercise Referral Fit for life is a series of supervised exercise sessions for people who have conditions that would benefit from increasing their physical activity. Walking Programmes There are a variety of different walks you can access dependant upon your current health level or needs. Wednesday Walking for Health Take the first steps to a healthier lifestyle with this programme of FREE, easy, approximately one hour walks. Join us at various locations throughout the Carlisle District. All are on good paths but please wear sensible footwear. Tuesday Trundles These walks are more challenging, longer, with varying gradient and surfaces. Suitable footwear, walking boots or shoes with good grips/ soles and appropriate clothing for weather is required. For more information, please call 01228 817158. Chances Park (Morton Manor) Walk All walks are free to access, lasting approximately 30 minutes and ending in the cafe. Each week the walk takes a slightly different route and it held every Monday at 2:30pm. Please meet in Morton Community Centre foyer. Please also contact us if you are interested in becoming a Qualifies Walk Leader and leading walks or setting up walks in your area, we can assist with training and support.
