Mental Health Campaign Following the results of 'Make your Mark' and the Carlisle Youth Council's mental health event in The Lanes, Carlisle in August 2015, it was decided that bullying would be their mental health campaign (with 19.6% of the 11-18 age category voting bullying). Carlisle Youth Council created a pack to send to schools, colleges and local youth groups, called 'So What?'. The pack has four different activities aimed at different aspects of mental health. The purpose of the 'So What?' campaign was to promote self-empowerment amongst yound people, whilst raising awaremess of mental health issues. It also meets healthy city objectives. The workshop has four activities - each is aimed at a different aspect of mental health issues. The first was aimed at body image, the second at prejudice, the third at acceptance and the final activity was aimed at mindfulness. The activities ranged from presentations to a colouring sheet. They recently trialled the workshop with Carlisle Young Carers. Their strawberry activity in The Lanes was also a great success with more than 200 young people taking part. They surpassed their 300 ballot target at the event getting 329 responses. It is intended to send information to schools and colleges in Carlisle and to put the pack on the Carlisle Youth Council website, as well as sharing it with key commissioning partners. The resources are available on this webpage. Print 15318 Rate this article: No rating Please login or register to post comments.
