Anonym / 17 July 2017 / Categories: Healthy City, Carlisle Dementia Action Alliance Sensory Garden Work has almost been completed on the new sensory garden within the Hadrian Unit at Carleton Clinic and is scheduled for launch on Tuesday 1st August 2017. The garden will be used as part of the therapy for mental health patients using home grown plants and vegetables that stimulate all the senses and create a calming atmosphere. Patients, staff and volunteers have worked very hard in transforming the garden which has been funded by Jane Anderson through Lisa's Legacy. The garden is important in helping patients learn new skills, gain confidence and raise self esteem as well as develop social skills. Patients often find a new hobby in gardening which is a great distraction for the mind and gives them something healthy and productive to focus on.
